OK, so, what do you do when you assemble the gym only to find 8 3/8″ nylock nuts missing from the container?

The bowflex is a great piece of equipment for fitness or strength training, I have a friend that owns one and have experienced it. However, to own one you will have to pay over six hundred dollars to experience its greatness. At my local gym it costs about thirty bucks for a monthly membership: all the free weights and machine weights you need to get in shape. It is a PROVEN fact that free weights are more efficient and more vigorous than fixed machine weights, such as the bowflex. In many bowflex commercials and other fitness product commercials alike, there is always the common question: “Why spend more money going to a gym when you can use our product?” Well, I could spend three months in the gym with free weights and get in great shape for ninety dollars, while the bowflex costs six hundred and there’s no telling how long it will take to build up your strength, considering the fact that free weights are better than fixed weights, such as the bowflex. So which option is really getting you in better shape while saving you more money?
If spending an arm and a leg isn’t a hassle for you, then by all means get the bowflex. But if you want to get in shape in less time for less money, then get in a gym.

Product good. However the shipping leaves somewhat to be desired. This was ordered as a christmas gift. I received it 2 days after christmas. I had to initiate the calls to find out where the product was. Amazon subcontracted the delivery to one company who in turn subcontracted it to another.

Easy to set up for each workout. Each workout is pretty simple to do. I’ve only had it for about two weeks so I can’t give a complete review but so far I am getting a great workout so I am very happy. Great investment.

The Bowflex Motivator 2 Home Gym is a fairly good product. The unit I received was built with high quality components and was well made except for one of the welds on the leg extension pivot bracket. The weld was done without the pivot bracket being flush with the main frame of the unit. This caused the leg extension to be cocked slightly to the right but not enough to go to the trouble of shipping it back for a replacement. I got a great deal from Amazon by applying for their Amazon Store card for this purchase and thereby received deferred payments with no interest for 12 from the purchase date. On top of that, the shipping was free for this 165 lb product! The machine was priced well at $599. However, the information about this product should have made it more clear that the machine cannot be upgraded above the 210 lbs of power rods it comes with. I read other reviews regarding this particular BowFlex model that stated that the tabs covering the two extra rod box holes can be cut away and then the BowFlex upgrade rods can be installed. Modifying the machine in that manner would obviously void the warranty so I haven’t decided whether I will do that or not. The service provided by the company that shipped the product (CVS I think) was somewhat of a problem. First, shortly after I placed the order, the Amazon web site posted the order status stating “The customer has been contacted to arrange delivery.”. I had not been contacted in any way (phone, email, etc.) so I called Amazon and they gave me a phone number to call to arrange for delivery. CVS agreed to deliver the product the next day (a Saturday) between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM. I was pleasantly surprised because that was four or five days earlier than Amazon had originally predicted. On Saturday the actual delivery was about an hour late. Overall I am pleased with my purchase and the machine itself. It is very easy to change the configuration for different exercises and is very quiet during use. With the exception of the mis-aligned leg extension bracket, this machine is very well made and the assembly instructions were easy to follow. I spent about an hour and fifteen minutes assembling it. I also like the fact that this machine can be rolled to the corner of the room and folded up for storage. It’s too large to put in any of my closets but folding it up in a corner of the room works great because it then only has a three foot by four foot footprint. I would recommend this machine to friends with a warning about the upgrade issue.
