The 500Sr–which includes many of the most sought-after features on the market–is equipped with an efficient eddy current brake system that provides up to 16 levels of resistance. As a result, it’s easy to find the perfect resistance level for your needs, whether you want to warm up before hitting the weights or challenge yourself with a serious cardio burn. The exclusive Comfort-Plus extra-wide seat, meanwhile, teams with the molded backrest to create whole new levels of stability and comfort. Add in the easygoing step-thru frame, which is ideal for people who are rehabbing from injury or who find traditional upright bikes uncomfortable, and you have a terrific workout accessory for the home.

The 500Sr offers plenty of workout flexibility, with an easy-to-read console that supports several different program types, including manual, fat-burning intervals, glute max hill climb, target heart rate, and custom trainer. The latter program is particularly valuable over the long term, as it lets you vary your workout depending on your mood. This not only keeps your attitude fresh, but it also makes your overall training regimen more efficient by challenging your body in different ways. It’s also a breeze to track your workout progress thanks to the blue backlit LCD, which displays your time, pulse, calories, intensity level, RPM, speed, distance, and watts. And no workout is complete without a little motivational music, with is why the 500Sr comes with a set of built-in speakers and a plug-in jack for your MP3 player. Once you’re plugged in, you can listen to your favorite playlists and tune out the rest of the world as you cycle through the imaginary hillsides.

Other features include contact pulse sensors in the handgrips for reading your heart rate, an accessory holder on the console for magazines or books, a built-in Smart Fan, and a weight capacity of 275 pounds. I bought this bike sight unseen after doing a ton of research.

I couldn’t find it locally, but I did find a similar (lower end model) at the Sears. Sears also had this bike online for $200 more plus $125 for shipping (can’t ship to store) and tax…it was $409 @ amazon…I was concerned because of the comments/reviews about the warranty being invalid if you didn’t buy it from a brick and mortar store, or the other review that states you void the warranty by assembling it yourself. I emailed diamondback (from their website) and went back and forth with a sales rep who assured me none of that was true. He said they’d been trying to correct the internet misinformation for a long time (I actually replied to a comment for them) and they couldn’t do it themselves.

Anyway, I scheduled the shipping from amazon for the 9-12 block…the night before, the local carrier called me and left a message, apparently their time blocks are different as they said 10-2, which left me with taking an entire day off work instead of just a 1/2….by 2:30 the carrier was not at my house so I called them (RTC here) and they said they’d left a tag on my front door shortly after 9 am. I told them I’d not left the house, walked all around my house and saw no tag. After some back and forth with their driver (that I didn’t hear) they said they’d leave it at my house on Monday if I left them a note with permission to leave it (I wasn’t about to stay home again, and apparently they’d tried to leave it at the wrong house!).

I emailed amazon because I was so annoyed at taking a day off work for nothing and they refunded $85 for shipping (mainly because it was now considered late).

The bike arrived yesterday and they had left it blocking the stairs to my back deck (I asked them to leave it ON the deck). The box is bulky but not heavy.

We got it inside and I opened it and took out all the parts and laid them out. It doesn’t have a lot of parts. One note, some of the bolts needed for assembly are not on the blister pack, they are ON the bike and you have to remove them. The blister pack also includes an allen wrench and a philips screwdriver/hex wrench tool so you don’t need to go find any tools to assemble it.

I started assembling it, putting the stabilizer bars on and then the pedals, but alas, there were NO pedals in the box. I called diamondback and they told me I had to speak with amazon because though they make it, it comes from amazon. I called amazon who only offered me a new one and then ship this one back, which I wasn’t willing to do (I wasn’t sitting home again for this). So I called diamondback back and spoke to their tech people who said they’d gladly send out the pedals only. They also said that they weigh every box before it goes out to assure all the parts are there, so apparently either at amazon or the shipper took them out.

I spent about an hour assembling the rest of the bike, I’m waiting on the pedals, but it seems to be very well made. There are a few places where the screws/bolts are a little difficult to get at and take some time to tighten, but not impossible. I purchased this model because it had a variety of built in programs, the fan, the mp3 jack, and a place to hold my book. It also came with it’s A/C adapter which a lot of the other ones do not…..

So I haven’t tried it out yet. The instructions are not written really well and I’m pretty techie/handy so they weren’t too bad to figure out what they wanted, but they were confusing in places.

Once again, diamondback has been wonderful to deal with, I can’t say enough about their sales and their techie/repair people, the techie guy told me there was a addendum on their website about the assembly. Also on the box in BIG LETTERS it states that if you don’t have the bike assembled by an authorized dealer, you void the warranty, once again, the techie guy told me that was not true and there was info on the website that corrects that. Amazon has also been great to deal with.

This has been one of those experiments in patience and where everything that could go wrong goes wrong, but so far everyone has been good about trying to rectify any issues.

I was very, very sceptical about ordering a piece of equiptment like this online without seeing it in person. I thought I would take a chance and see what happened. I was very surprised at the quality for the price. It is certainly more heavy duty than I expected. It took a bit of patience to put together, but all in all, I was on it and riding in a little more than an hour.

This now completes my new home gym, and I am excited to be able to start taking better care of myself physically.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this item, and found that for this price, it is comparable to many that I have seen for over a thousand dollars…Try it,, you might just like it also…

I am completely satisfied with the Diamondback Recumbent Bike. It arrived when promised, in perfect condition. It was not difficult to assemble and is easy and comfortable to use. We are enjoying it.

I was looking for a quiet bike that was comparable to one you would use at a gym. This bike definately fits the bill! We live in a second floor flat above a cranky landlady, so quiet was a MUST. This bike makes virtually no noise. As far as the quality, it has the basics of a gym bike, MPH, heart rate & calorie counter + the settings work great. The fan is pretty weak (but that really doesn’t make a difference) and assembly took a couple hours but wasn’t extraordinarily frustrating. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.
