About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.
From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.
While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

No complaints: This treadmill is well built, and sturdy on a level surface. Easy to use, unlike some of the other comments you read, probably from folks who use those GIGANTIC machines in gyms. The great thing about this Horizon treadmill is that it doesn’t have large acoutrements hanging out all over the place to impede your ingress or egress to/from the tread. It’s also a good looking machine in its overall light coloration, unlike those behemoths in dreadful blacks and charcoals.
At 100 pounds and compact profile folded, it’s easy to move and store. Don’t be fooled into believing you can’t get a quality workout because it’s compact. It’s walking, DU-uhhh.
Sure, 5 to 6 hundred is more than some other, bigger treadmills, but the extra cost is worth the convenience without suffering loss of quality.
If running is your thing, go outside, or to the gym. BUT, you can get a good, FAST walk with this’n. Buy it.

I bought this treadmill not knowing if I was making the right choice but I am very very happy with it so far. I have been using the weight loss program for a month every day and it gives me a great workout in 30 minutes. I love that I don’t have to leave my home to go get my excerise. I had to put it on the second floor of my home which was a challenge but my husband and I got it moved with a little grunting. Once it was up there I have no probelm moving it around and it is very compact. Now I just hope it lasts me with no problems as I plan on using it daily. It could be interesting to get it repired if I need to. Any advice if future repairs are needed?

Update 2/2010
I would give this 5 stars now but am going to leave my low rating so others are aware of the initial issues.
Replacement by Amazon was great. Second treadmill worked right out of the box. Loving it.
pros:
- lighter than most treadmills
- delivery by amazon rather than having to go to a store to find it and paying extra for delivery and setup
- works right out of the box, so no assembly.
- small. Folds, stands up and stores in a very narrow closet.
- easy to get a quick jog in, even in winter. Can have it in a convenient room, but fairly easily move it to another room or floor when seasons change. (compared with much heavier treadmills.)
cons:
- only 6 miles per hour (so far have not needed to go faster but I could see that it might be nice…not a huge con for me.)
- no incline (not a huge con for me)

Update 6/3/2009
so it is what 18 days later? After a few phone calls and coordination on my part, including needing to be home for the repair guy, the company sent a tech out to fix it. Now the company says it can not be fixed but must be replaced.
I feel like they really knew in the beginning that it would need to be replaced (I had the sense they have had this problem before), so I’m continuing my low rating pending resolution.
The nice thing is the replacement sounds easy-peasy. Amazon will ship a replacement and the delivery company will pick up the broken treadmill as is. I don’t have to worry about boxing it up and sending it back. So that is great!
will update the review when I get delivery of the replacement.

Arrived yesterday and we unpacked it and set it up today, a Saturday.
1 of 2 things happens:
1. The belt stops moving completely after 10 seconds.
or
2. The belt moves EXTREMELY FAST, so fast that I don’t dare get on it and so fast that I am afraid it will break. Even though the speed is set at 1 mph.
I have an email in to customer support, but it looks like there may not be customer support on the weekend. frustrating.
Definately NOT “just unfold and go”.
Will update my review if/when customer support responds.

I know this is one of those things technically my fault for not reading, but seriously, this thing tops out at 6 mph. I weigh 165 PBS and it feels like it’s about to shatter under my weght– even at the slow slow pace. I guess if you’re a senior citizen looking for a walk it is ideal. Otherwise, the sidewalk is faster than this treadmill.

I purchased this in December 2009 so that I could begin a walking program. I used it twice and the belt was slipping underneath my feet both times. The third time I used it I tried to center the belt according to the instructions now the belt moves while you walk. Needless to say I have not been walking.
I believed in the five star reviews and the demonstration I saw on a television shopping channel but I wish I had went onto the Better Business Bureau website a lot sooner. There were 43 complaints had I know I would still have my money.
Now I’m stuck with a treadmill which will probably need to be repaired each time I use the machine.
