About Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don’t take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

I tried several bikes and decided on this one because of the programs and it was quiet. The box we got was very tore up. There was no paperwork with the bike. We got the bike assembled and it is still very quiet, however that is because I rarely use it. I have tried numerous adjustments and my knees or hips crack because I cannot get it adjusted correctly. The seat is either too high or too low. I have never had an issue with cracking of the knees or hips. I had my husband try it and his knees also crack, regardless of the seat adjustment. There is something very wrong with this design.

This purchase was intended to be a second Schwinn 130 Upright Exercise Bike for our vacation home. We ordered one (1) bike trhough Amazon, but, inexplicably, two arrived. I refused the one in the damaged box and off it went with the UPS truck and was promptly credited back to our credit card by Amazon. That’s the good news. The bad news is the second bike’s thin, metal body was shattered during shipping, something we didn’t discover until we opened the perfectly intact box. That one was returned via UPS and credited by Amazon as well. Lesson learned: buy books and, maybe, DVDs from Amazon. Buy anything breakable somewhere else, preferably from a merchant that can bring it to your site and set it up because most of Amazon’s items like the bike are shipped from fulfillment houses or manufacturers and that results in a lot of risky handling betweeen the shipper and the purchaser. This would be especially true during the frantic holiday ordering/shipping season.

When the bike came the main unit housing was broken in two places and did not fit properly — I never even set it up. Amazon sent a replacement, which I did set up, but the flywheel is clearly rubbing and thus the pedals can barely be turned, with a loud scraping noise, and of course no programs work. I am not sure if the bikes were ever made properly but clearly the shipping boxes are inadequate. The result is that the buyer gets heavy (about 80 pound) garbage that you have to repack yourself to send back to Amazon. A complete and total rip-off.
