About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.
Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.
Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won’t strain sensitive joints.

I LIVE IN A ONE LEVEL RANCH HOUSE
this item is 172lbs. -shipping weight.
ABF Freight refused to bring the item into the house– they wanted to leave the box at the door step.
From ABF Delivery form —
“Ground DEL & Basic Inside DEL are pre-approved by Amazon.com”
they put the box in the garage
i had to get a neighbor to help me move the 172 lb box into my house.
ABF / AMAZON did not fulfill what i contracted them to do–deliver the box inside the house !
I called Amazon Customer Support 2 times, and then spoke to a supervisor, all they could say was “do you want to return the item” and “where does it say that on the contract”
I scanned in the contract with the language –but you cant put attachments on customer complaints– so i’ve given up !!
I paid over $700 for this item — and EXPECTED it to be delivered as AMAZON promised !!!
Rating:
I can’t speak for the “quality” of the machine at this point becuase it arrived with (2) large scratches on it, and I refused delivery. So I’ll have to let you know. But so far, I’m disappointed with Amazon’s freight carrier.

If you follow the directions to a t, you will end up with 4 large black washers and the machine will fall apart the first time you use it.In disassembling/reassembling it corrrectly this time, I wore off almost all of the lube grease and can now look forward to one doing it again.

Great price. Great quality.
First off, a few problems Amazon’s carrier for this was terrible. I had to actually take off a day from work in order to physically be present in order to accept the package. The carrier does not deliver at all on the weekends, and they do not actually deliver the package in your building/house for you.
So if you live in an apartment building (like me), they leave it outside the building and it’s up to you on how you get all 180lbs of it in. That was a nice surprise. So hopefully you guys have a hand-truck laying around, otherwise.
Now, the first time I assembled it and everything, and when I went to try it — I was on it for no longer than 3 minutes when immediately the left leg pops out of the track. This turned out to be that the left leg was defective. The front was fine, but the back was actually in the mold of the right leg… it was, in a sense, a hybrid. LOL. Of course, I laugh about this now, but I was going nuts at the time. Also, the Customer Service was amazing: friendly, informative, and efficient. The sent a new leg, and it arrived within a day or two. They also sent another package of the bolts and all that stuff, and greased parts so I didn’t have to re-use anything.
Then there was a crazy squeaking coming from the flywheel unit, an ear-piercing squeek that words cannot describe (some others, I believe, have reported this as well). Simple. If you hear this, it’s nothing other than the over-tightening of the bolts on each side of the fly wheel. Jut give each bolt a slight half-turn to make it looser and the squeaking should go away.
I have to say set up was pretty straight-forward.. and this is coming from a person who loathes that kind of stuff.
Hopefully you won’t get defective parts. And if you do, just know that the customer service is really excellent, efficient and helpful and it will not be the end of the world. Far from it. It’s a great product, especially for the price, and I love the machine. I recommend.

So I like the machine, but the problem I have is that the fly wheel belt came off after about a week of use. Unfortunately I am out of the warranty so Schwinn sent me the new part but no instructions how to fit it. I can’t find out how to do it and can’t get anyone to do it from Schwinn, so I have something nice and expensive to hang cloths on.
